Learning how to dance social tango is based on improvising the movements and respecting your partner and other dancers on the floor.
The essence of Argentine tango in life and especially in the relationship between a man and a woman. Graciela Gonzales, a leading tango teacher, calls the dance "a three-minute love story."
In our city, Argentine tango is taught by teachers Andrei Mishustin and Lyudmila Tarasenko.
Eight reasons to practice Argentine tango.
1. You will make new acquaintances.
Argentine tango is a social dance, so new people, communication and many activities await you. Once you get the hang of it, you can go out to special tango parties called milongas.
2. Get in shape.
Argentine tango uses different muscle groups and a center of dynamic balance. Constantly twisting your body will help you tighten your belly and develop flexibility. Constant work of the free and supporting legs will make the buttocks pronounced, the internal muscles of the thigh will tighten. Working with a hug will make your arms look perfect.
3. Learn to listen to your partner.
Argentine tango is a dance with pronounced roles of the leader and the follower. A leader in a couple learns to make a decision and implement it, to take responsibility for what is happening. The follower, in turn, learns to listen, follow, interpret the desires and decisions of the partner.
In Argentine tango, there are no memorized movements, so you will be guided solely by the signals from your partner.
4. Lots of hugs!
Argentine tango involves a fairly close contact regardless of the distance at which you dance. You will receive a huge dose of endorphins! After all, scientists have already proven that hugging helps relieve stress, depression and inner tightness.
5. Cheer yourself up.
Argentine tango will relieve you of depressive feelings, emotional stress and burnout. Joint movement with a partner to music, the outburst of negative emotions through movement, "dancing" your fears - all this has a positive effect on health.
6. Learn to communicate with the opposite sex.
If you are not very confident in meeting men, then Argentine tango is definitely for you. This is a dance that fully works through all stages of relationships - from first sight, invitation to parting. It depends equally on each of the partners whether a new meeting will happen. And here's a bonus for you: a lot of people find their other half in tango. You can even see couples with babies dancing in the milongas.
7. You will have a reason to dress up.
Milonga, a meeting place for tango dancers, is a kind of tango party that involves following a specific dress code. Special tango shoes are a real fetish for any "tango". Both male and female tango shoes define a dancer's status, character and intentions. Appearance - a message, a non-verbal message to others.
Tango dancers are rarely seen in washed T-shirts and frayed jeans, everything is "in parade" here. So if you have a lot of beautiful dresses in your closet that you don't know where to “walk”, urgently join the ranks of the “Tangeras”.
8. Look at the world.
Tango language is universal. Almost anywhere in the world you will find Argentine tango and in 5 minutes you will become “your own”, even if you don’t know a word in a foreign language. Tango is an improvisational dance, you do not need to negotiate and rehearse with a specific partner.
Movement and music are the two unifying factors that will allow you to enjoy tango anywhere in the world. Almost every weekend, marathons, festivals, milongas and workshops are organized around the world. Tango is a legal life doping. And at 90, and at 20 years old, you can dance to its fullest.
